HISTORY OF THE REVOLUTION |
Revolution State was founded by Ben P. and Bonnie P. in the fall of the year 2000. In 2003 they contributed two songs to the Velvet Acid Christ album Hex Angel: Utopia Dystopia, "Misery", and "Eva". The tracks were well received by fans and critics alike, and IGN.com even praised "Eva", calling it "a quasi-instrumental minimalist piece that is evocative of Coil's Musick to Play in the Dark that shows a softer, almost ambient, side to VAC." These VAC tracks, as well as the tracks previously written by the band laid the ground work for the Revolution State sound: a blend of elements from dark electro, idm, and power noise that allow for a unique and varied listening experience. In the spring of 2005 Ben and Bonnie formed their noisy ebm project Noizekatt, showcasing Bonnie's vocals with driving distorted rhythms and aggressive synths. Although Noizekatt was originally a live only project, it soon became an official second project. In June 2006 the Revolution State track “Deny” received recognition through a compilation appearance on Endzeit Bunkertracks Act 2, released by the Belgian Alfa-Matrix label. In August of the same year, Revolution State contributed two amazing remixes to VAC's "Wound" single: "Wound (Legacy of the Revolution)", and "Ghost Regen (Fractured Coils Version)". "Wound" ranked on the Deutsch Alternative Chart's singles chart for seven weeks and held the #1 position for four weeks. In October 2006 Revolution State contributed an ethereal dance remix of the song "Demon Breeder" to Neikka RPM's album The Rise of the Thirteenth Serpent. Early in 2007 both Revolution State and Noizekatt signed with the Vendetta Music label, and their first album, the Revolution State vs. Noizekatt split EP, officially became a Vendetta Music release. Currently, Ben and Bonnie are hard at work in the studio, and plan to complete a brand new full length album for each project in 2008. They have also recently worked on new remixes for Necrotek, Experiment Haywire, and Dead Turns Alive, and the Noizekatt track "Scars" appeared on machineKUNT Record's first compilation release Extreme Women in the Dark Future, which came out in August 2008, and is available now. The previously unreleased Revolution State track "My Other Heartbeat (Paradox Version)" and a brand new mix of the Noizekatt track "Scars (Fresh Cuts)" will also be appearing on the No Sex In The Factory label's first release Broken Landscapes: Vol 1. later this year. |
NOIZEK@T - NOIZEKATT
| The Noizekatt (noizek@t) project started as a drunken idea after a night of DJing at the local club. The club owner had planned a live industrial show for about a month into the future and asked Ben and I if we’d like to participate. We declined to participate as Revolution State, feeling that we were not quite ready to unleash that upon the world yet, but we offered up instead to improvise a new project showcasing my vocals and Ben P. on synths. The club owner agreed, and for lack of any better ideas at the time, we decided to name the live project Noizekatt; a screen name I’d been using on the internet for some years, and a name we’d been throwing around for a side project for awhile.
From that night things moved quickly. We decided to write some actual preplanned tracks instead of completely improvising everything live, and we decided to embrace the side of our influences which were more noise oriented than Revolution State. Then we created some sample filled in between tracks exclusively for our performances, and I started pulling lyrics together from my writings. We were also given permission by Bryan Erickson to perform the song Misery which appeared on his album Hex Angel: Utopia Dystopia, which we wrote the music to, and he wrote the lyrics for (and it is probably something I will only ever sing live). One month and many ciders, beers, and practices later, on 04.15.05, Noizekatt was born live on stage to a packed audience. The first Noizekatt show was so successful with the audience, that we decided that it should not be an exclusively live project. That is when we came up with the plan for releasing the Revolution State vs. Noizekatt split EP, combining our favorite Revolution State songs we’d created to date with the new Noizekatt tracks on one CD. After a lot of hard work, three months later, on 7.15.05, we released the CD and played our second live show to an even bigger audience. The Noizekatt project still exists today, and it may take on new forms in the future. Perhaps it will even combine with Revolution State completely. In truth, even we still do not know what the future will hold. Every time we write a song, we don’t know which project it will be for until it is complete. So, until next time, keep things noizy! - Bonnie P. a.k.a. Noizekatt
